First Timers

Grab a first timer package

This includes a beginner lift pass, rental equipment and a lesson. You learn the fundamentals – how your skis/board works, how to stand and slide etc.  It’s designed to get you up and going on your skis or board with a little help from one of our highly trained snowsports instructors.

Take a lesson

When you’re getting your lift pass, why not book in for a lesson as well.  Group lessons and private lessons are available throughout the day with our highly trained snow instructors.  Whatever your ability, they’ll help you improve.

What to wear

We are known for being a super sunny ski field but remember you’re in an alpine environment and staying warm and dry is key to enjoying your day.

We do not rent any clothing. However, we do sell gloves, hats and googles. Kiwi Treasures located in Lake Tekapo Village have a selection of jackets and pants for rental.

• Boots or shoes with a bit of tread as snow and ice can be slippery before you get your ski or snowboard boots on
• Base layers of merino, thermal or polar fleece – numerous layers that you can take off as you warm up and cool down throughout the day
• Warm, waterproof pants and jacket
• Waterproof gloves
• Goggles or sunglasses
• Sunscreen and lip balm

Ski and Snowboard hire

You can hire all your equipment from us on the mountain. We hire helmets, skis, boots, poles and snowboards and boots from our base facility.  We have hundreds of sets of ski and snowboard equipment for all ages and abilities.  Our friendly staff will guide you through getting the right fit.

Food

Remember to keep yourself fed and hydrated, when you’re having so much fun you forget how much exercise you’re actually doing!

Have a bit of fun with a toboggan

We hire toboggans so bring your picnic, the family and enjoy a few slides on our purpose built slope!
